Broken Record

Broken Record is a game about fixing faulty vinyl players (heavily inspired by Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes). Inspect the device, consult the manual, and try not to make the problems worse!

Open the manual^‡ (pdf) in one window first - you'll need it for reference to play the game - then run the executable (or play in the browser^†).

N.B: Section 1 (Available Models) and Section 3 (Testing) are worth reading first, to get an overview of the device; the rest of the manual contains the component-specific rules required during play.

While this game is intended to be a solo experience, it can also work well with a pair of players (one reading, one fixing) - like KTaNE.

Controls:

• Space - Next Slide (only for the introduction)
• Left Click - Interact
• Right Click - Rotate Player
• R Key - Reset Rotation

^†Edit 1: Web build was a last minute addition, so the viewport may be too zoomed in on some devices. Also, the sensitivity on some of the controls is quite high. Downloadable build was much more thoroughly tested, so it is recommended to play this version if you can.

^‡Edit 2: Current known typos in the manual include

• “Orange” instead of “Yellow” for the in the LED colour tables.
• Volume dial should say “above” the play button, not “below”.
• In Section 2.4.2, it should say to subtract the smaller number from the larger one, not the other way around.
• Section 2.2.1 is admittedly confusing - for clarification, this refers only to the 3xxx models.
